Using LEGO in Gestalt Play Therapy I

What's In It For Me

In this hands-on, experiential workshop, you will discover through therapeutic power of play how LEGO can be used to build engagement and relationship effectively – by fostering trust, attunement, and co-regulation.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Understand the theoretical foundations of play therapy and the therapeutic value of LEGO

• Apply core Gestalt principles using LEGO as a creative medium

• Develop competence in using LEGO to build therapeutic relationships and contact

Course Overview

Secure, attuned relationships are the foundation of effective therapy, and neuroscience affirms that playful, creative connections help children and adolescents heal and thrive. Children and adolescents who are struggling, hurt and traumatized need to re-establish feelings of safety and security before they can process and re-organize their complex emotions and experiences into better understanding and adjustments.

LEGO beyond being a beloved toy, can transform your clinical practice by bridging the gap between therapist and client. Leveraging on its universal appeal, LEGO can ignite clients’ imagination to find creative adjustments through collaborative and social play. This makes LEGO a compelling tool to add to your clinical practice, to build foundations for therapeutic change, one brick at a time.
